One Network, Three Sites, Built to Stay Up
How Pros2Go designed, built and now manages the complete network, including 24/7 vNOC monitoring, for a multi-site regional manufacturer.
The challenge
A regional manufacturer with two production plants and a warehouse in two states ran on aging, flat networks. Plant-floor equipment, cameras, phones and office PCs shared the same space, with little visibility when something went wrong, and downtime on a 24/7 line was not an option.
What we did
- Designed one standard architecture for every site, joined by site-to-site VPN
- Installed redundant enterprise core switches and stacked access switches on new OM3 fiber
- Deployed high-availability firewalls on enterprise servers with dual-ISP failover
- Segmented the network into dedicated zones for users, voice, servers, video, management, guests and legacy plant equipment
- Rolled out enterprise Wi-Fi indoors and outdoors and an IP camera system on its own network
- Stood up 24/7 vNOC monitoring, centralized logging and an automatically updated inventory
- Wrote the full documentation set: architecture, standards, runbooks, change log and disaster recovery
By the numbers
3 sites in 2 states
Two production plants and a warehouse
22 switch closets
Wiring closets (MDF/IDF) across the three sites
90+ wireless access points
Enterprise indoor and outdoor
Dedicated IP camera network
Video on its own isolated network
7 network zones
Segmented by function and trust level
No single point of failure
Internet, firewall, core, uplink and power at each plant
The result
A single failed switch, firewall, internet circuit or power feed doesn't stop production; monitoring spots problems before they become outages; and any failed device can be replaced from documented configs and on-hand spares. The design also supports the client's ISO 27001 and TISAX compliance work.
“We build every network so it never depends on anyone's memory: it's redundant, monitored and documented from day one.”
